#  Former Bertarelli-funding investigator published paper on successful gene therapy treatment of deafness in humans

 Zheng-Yi Chen, an investigator previously funded by the Bertarelli research program, is part of a team that has achieved successful gene therapy treatment of deafness in human patients! His [paper](https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(23)02874-X/abstract), describing delivery of the OTOF coding sequence with dual AAV vectors to the inner ear, was originally published in [The Lancet](https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/home) on January 24, 2024.
