Project Summary: The goal of the study is to measure the neural representation of sound frequency in mice while they are passively listening versus engaged in a behavioral discrimination task. We will use widefield epifluorescence imaging of a genetically encoded calcium indicator from the cortex of awake, transgenic mice while they perform a behavioral task under head restraint. This will address the hypothesis that low resolution spatial patterns of brain activity can encode important stimulus features.

Mr. Robert will help to the development of the behavioral setup, of the microscope, perform the training of the mice and analyze the collected data.
